I was looking for something nice and easy to break myself back into blogging. I always enjoy reading others' blogs but am greatly intimidated to work on my own due to my lack of writing skills. So I came across the 40 beauty questions tag and thought it would be much easier to write than to make a video on.

So do you guys prefer reading blog posts or watching youtube videos? Let me know!

Here goes:

Skincare:
How many times do you wash your face daily?
Tricky question. I wash once in the shower first thing in the morning. At night, I wash several times to both get all my makeup off and to cleanse my skin. So maybe like 4 times total.

What skin type do you have? (dry,oily,combo)
Dry, never any oily breakthrough.

What is your current facial wash?
Clinique, the green pump soap.

Do you exfoliate?
Yes. About every 3-4 sometimes 5 days with MAC Volcanic Ash Exfoliator.

What brand do you use?
MAC

What moisturizer do you use?

Clinique dramatically different moisturizing lotion.

Do you have freckles?
Yes! In a ribbon across the tops of my cheeks. I dislike them very much!

Do you use eye cream?
Not recently. I've found the Clinique moisturizer is gentle enough to use all over but I used to use Merle Norman Wrinkle Smoother Eye that was very nice.

Do you or did you have acne prone skin?
I have hormonal breakouts on my chin only...usually.

Did you ever have to use Pro-activ?
No. I've never tried it. I think it would be too harsh for my dry skin.

MAKE-UP:
What foundation do you use?
Revlon Colorstay in number 150 Buff.

How about concealer?
I usually use the Coastal Scents Camouflage Concealing Pallet but sometimes I use my MAC single one.

Do you know your undertone color?
I am warm. Warm, warm, warm. My skin is very yellow based with no pink undertones and I get super frustrated with foundations that are too pink for me!

What do you think of fake eyelashes?
Love! I wear half lashes on the outer corners almost every weekend. Not so much for the office but on Saturday and Sundays I like to wear my makeup how I want!

Did you know that you are supposed to change your mascara every 3 months?
Yes! I find they are usually dried out or have lost their touch in that length of time anyway so I never feel bad throwing them out.

What brand of mascara do you use?
Um, tons! Rimmel Sexy Curves and Covergirl Lash Blast are my everyday ones for now. I have many Rimmel ones that I'm testing out, but so far Sexy Curves wins by a landslide.

Sephora or MAC?
MAC. I really want to build up a MAC based collection because of the variety they carry. I love looking around Sephora though too!

Do you have a MAC Pro-card?
Nope.

What makeup tools do you use in make up application?
Sigma brushes mostly. I almost always use my fingers when applying concealer though. I think it melts into your skin better.

Do you use make-up base/primer for the eyes?
Everyday. I love Urban Decay Primer Potion and UDPP in Sin. They are both lovely and always do the job. A cheaper alternative is the ELF Mineralized Eyeshadow Primer.

For the face?
Kind of. I'm currently using the Monistat Anti-Chaffing cream as a primer and it works great at smoothing the surface of my face. I'd like to try the Benefit That Gal face primer.

What is your favorite eyeshadow (color or shade)?
Too many to choose! The ones that I use the most are Print, Grand Entrance and Satin Taupe by MAC. I also love Shore Leave, Showstopper and Copper Plate by MAC.

Do you use pencil or liquid eyeliner?
Liquid or cream on top, pencil on bottom...everyday. I love the Revlon Color Stay Liquid Liner or Blacktrack Fluid Line by MAC.

How often do you poke your eyes with an eyeliner pencil?
Haha, not very often.

What do you think of pigment eyeshadows?
I love Glamour Doll Eyes. http://www.glamourdolleyes.com

But other than those, I don't want to spend time messing around so I usually use my MAC pressed eyeshadows.

Do you use mineral makeup?
Not really. I use MAC's Mineralized Skin Finish Natural as well as some other the highlighting MSF's by MAC and a few mineralized blushes by MAC.

What is your favorite lipstick?
Wisper by Victoria's Secret. Maybe not my absolute favorite but most worn by far!

How about lipgloss?
MAC's dazzleglasses in many colors: Smile, My Favorite Pink and Moth to Flame.

What is your favorite blush to use?
MAC's Cubic, Ripe Peach Blush Ombre and the Coastal Scents 10 Color Blush Palette because I can mix colors together.

Do you buy your makeup on ebay?
No. I've never tried it.

Do you like drugstore makeup?
Pretty much mascara and Revlon Colorstay Foundation and Liquid liner only. I know that they have good quality products at the drugstore but I always think "for a few dollars more I could get what I REALLY want."

Do you go to CCO's? (cosmetic company outlets)
Yes, but not often. The closest one to me is 2 hours away but anytime I'm even near it I check it out!

Did you ever consider taking make-up classes?
Yes. I used to work for Merle Norman and got some great formal training with them. I would always love to learn more but for now, there's youtube!

Are you clumsy in putting on makeup?
Haha, sometimes I guess. I always have to clean up after putting on mascara. I blotch it all over!

Name a makeup crime that you hate?
Hmm, poor foundation I guess. Nothing bother me too much expect for a face that's way too dark or too light and could be easily fixed with the right product.

Do you like colorful shades of makeup (lipstick,eyeshadow) or neutral ones?
Both! I wear neutrals everyday but usually wear a dramatic eye with a nude lip. I love creating colorful looks for tutorials though just to use some creativity!

Which celebrity always has great make up?
Angelina Jolie. She's my idol!

If you could leave the house using just ONE make up item, what would you use?

Mascara for sure.

Could you ever leave the house without any makeup on?
Yes. I do a lot on the weekends. As long as I'm showered and my teeth are brushed I feel good about myself.

Do you think you look good even without any makeup on?
Ok, but I think of how much better I COULD look, lol.

In your opinion, what is the BEST makeup line?
In my opinion, MAC. They have a huge variety of colors and products in the permanent line. Plus, they're always coming out with more in their limited edition line.

What do you think of Makeup??
I think that makeup it a huge confidence builder in women and that's fine by me!

Well, I'm taking another crack at it! I promise to be better at working on my blog you guys. I know sometime we all enjoy taking a quick read instead of watching videos. Quick update on random things I'm loving....
Going to the mall and "browsing": I've tried several times to go to the mall just to pass time or for something interesting to do. I always intend on just browsing but never seem to leave empty handed. Nail polishes and makeup are popular impulse purshases that I can't stay away from.
Baby Oil Gel: I just picked this up today. (Expect a haul video soon) I've already used a tiny amount on my dry hands and feet and wow, what a difference it makes! It seals in all moisture and keeps dry skin far at bay. Loving it!
Multiple coats of mascara: I've come to the conclusion that how you apply your mascara is just as important as what mascara you use. I've recently bought a few that I don't love, but layering them up can really make a difference. I look like I have a full, thick and black lash line even with the mascaras I'm not happy with. They won't go to waste and I can use them up more quickly so that I can purchase one I am happy with. Yay for using products!
Lastly, Forever 21: I am a former employee of Forever 21 and I'm falling back in love with it. When I worked there, several years ago, they made trendy "going out" clothes and cute, yet classy, work attire. For the past few years, Forever 21 got into a funky slump. They were taking their trendy style a little too far and some of their stuff looked plain old crazy! It was much too loud and too little for a working girls wardrobe. But lately, they've turned another corner. You can now get fun party clothes as well as some respected pieces for a more sophisticated wardrobe. When I've seen more expensive items I'm tempted to buy at other stores and say in my head "no, I'll just buy it at Forever 21 and save money". And that's something to love.

Something I'm loving

Something that I'm currently loving:

Revlon Colorstay liquid foundation applied with an SS187 brush. I know, this may be old news to many of you, but I really love it! The 187 brush applies the foundation so lightly and you can still layer it over spots where you need more coverage. The colorstay lasts all day when set with a powder and doesn't look dry on my skin. I have it in the color Buff for normal/dry skin. It's costs less at Ulta than anywhere else I've found and sometimes they have buy one get one free so you can stock up on the foundation you love! This picture does the look no justice. I was inspired by Amy (dazzledust25.blogspot.com ) to try pinks and purples on my eyes when I normally wouldn't. I fear that when I wear pinks around my eye area, since I'm blonde, that I'll look like one of those little white mice with red eyes. Today I tried it out and it looked really cute. I used a bubblegum pink shimmer color on the lid, dark purple on the out corner and crease area, and a shimmer gold high light. I also tried out a dark purple cream eyeliner which just looks black in the picture. What colors are you afraid to wear?

Makeup for Wednesday. SUPER dull and boring with a pop of teal. I used the 88 Shimmer palette to do a really boring lid look (needed something fast and easy after filming a bright colored tutorial) and then used an angle brush, sprayed with VS freshening spray, and lined my lower lash line with a bright shimmering teal color. Pink blush and foundation over my lips are my go-to. Smooth Merge MSF as a highlight is another everyday wear. I don't use color under my eyes often, so even when I'm in a rush, it still feels special. Thanks for reading!! xoxo Elizabeth

Another look using my new 88 Shimmer Palette. I used a pink toned hi-light all over the lid. Medium toned silver/grey on my lid. Blended out into the hi-light. Then took the darkest black shimmer and placed it on the lash line and blended upwards. I was inspired by Dazzledust25 (amy)'s new smokey eye video. Monday Makeup:
Today I used the Coastal Scents 88 Shimmer Palette. I know it may be old news but this palette is very, VERY usefull when it comes to my everyday style looks. I love to wear neutrals but don't take pride in my boring makeup looks. This palette is perfect if you love browns, greys, blacks, and beautiful hilight colors of all undertones. It makes the most neutral look interesting. I used a gold undertoned highlight all over the lid. Then put a mocha brown in my crease and lined my lower lash line with it. Then I took a bright silver and popped it in my inner corner. Lined with a cream eyeliner and Lash Blast mascara. The 88 shimmer palette made me feel like I had on a special look when I really didn't.

Current Nail Polish Obsession

Hey girls. I recently came accross some really unique nail tutorials on youtube. It's a technique called "marbleing". If you'd like a tutorial on how I did it, please leave a comment below. Otherwise just search for it on youtube and you'll find tons of great how to videos. This nail polish look reminds me so much of making spin art as a kid. Remember you put a sheet of paper in a little machine that spins in circles and you squirt paint on it? Here are the products I used to create the nail art.

I first painted my nails with the Pure Ice polish in the color Taupe Drawer. I then did the marbleing technique with the Zoya polish in Malia and the Love my Nails polish in White... and here's how it came out.

I ended up with a really cool white swirl effect on my nails.

I am loving this Zoya polish right now in the color Malia. I currently am wearing it on my toes and it goes well with what I've done on my hands. Here's a picture of my other hand.

No nail will turn out the same, which is really cool. A couple of them I would re-do if I really wanted them to look more similar as sometimes I would get too big of a blob of the white polish. I will admit this prosess takes A LOT of clean up around your nails and down your fingertips so it's only a fun thing to do if you're feeling really creative and have time to spend on your nails. Drugstore makeup vs. the stuff you actually want...

I had a little extra spending money a few days ago and was wanted to invest, if you will, into some new products that I thought I'd love. So I took a quick trip up to my local walgreens. I was drawn to the Covergirl section because in the back of my mind I thought, "it's cheap!". I was looking to spend no more than $40 and thought I'd get a whole bunch of inexpensive, ok quality products for that amount.

So here's what I came home with: (all Covergirl brand)
Eye Enhancers Quad in Drama Eyes $5.49

And here's what went right back to the store:
EVERYTHING except the Lash Blast mascara

I know I sound crazy! After getting home and being so excited to just tear open my new products and test them out, to say the least, I was NOT thrilled! lol. I found I had spent over $40 on a bunch of lower quality makeup that I plain old just didn't want! The colors I picked were cute, but the happiness of my purchase quit right there. I had sort of forgotten that they all come with little foam applicators and teeny tiny brushes they expect you to be able to work with. I swatched a few things and decided it needed to go right back to it's home, Walgreens. I had a HUGE sense of guilt from spending a fair amount of money on stuff that I didn't even like. The worst product was the TruBlend "whipped" Foundation. There was NOTHING whipped about it! It is liquid foundation in a glass jar. ...and it smelled! BAD! On top of it all, I had used coupons that I got out of the Sunday paper that saved me almost $15.00 off my purchase. It would have been $58 for that little "treat myself" trip to Walgreens. I get a knot in my stomach just thinking about it. Luckily they were willing to return all of the items. I mean for $42 I could get 3 full size MAC eyeshadows that I would cherish and use for quite awhile. I could even go get the Kat VonD eyeshadow palette I've been eyeing at Sephora. And for $58 dollars, well I could get even more things that I actually wanted!
I did, however, love the Lash Blast mascara as I knew I would from watching reviews of it on youtube. Lesson learned! It really, truly, is more cost effective to buy the things you actually want in life rather than buy cheaper alternatives that you end up never wanting/using and then buying what you wanted in the first place.
Sidenote: I have yet to spend the money from what I returned...I guess I'm subconciously "saving up".

Here's a little something interesting I found today. As you all know, I really enjoy my AVON 8 in 1 nuetral tones palette. It has all the neutrals that I like to you everyday. At the moment I only have 2 MAC eyeshadows in my makeup collection and I found today, with mixed emotions, that I have an AVON dupe for both the MAC colors I own. I do plan on purchasing MAC eyeshadows that are very similar to the avon palette just to have more quantity and a better quality of the colors I love, at some point. What to do with unloved foundations?

I feel a sense of guilt in having so many foundations in my makeup collection that never get used. Some are too dark, too thick, poor qaulity or I plain old just don't like em! However, in the warmer weather I've noticed myself reaching for tinted moisturizers quite often. They're light weight, still even out your skin, and you can dust on your powder over it to make sure it stays all day long. So lately I've been trying this: Mixing my own moisturizer with an old, unloved foundation to create a light weight, sheer, thin, tinted moisturizer that can then be covered with my favorite powders. It's a great way to use up unloved foundations that otherwise would have expired or just been trashed. Here's a little video on it...

Anime or babydoll eyes tutorial

I've seen many tutorials lately on how to achieve an "anime" or babydoll eye look and just havn't found any that were what I was expecting. When I think of a "babydoll" look, the first thing that comes to mind is bright eyes! I love the dollies that have the painted on eyes. They're always really white and have a thin black line on the upper lash line that wings out to the side. Not in a cat eye effect, but in a really innocent, wide eyed effect. So I decided to take a stab at it. This is what I came up with. It's a fast, simple way to achieve that wide-eyed, innocent look. This look is perfect for early morning or times when you need to look really wide awake. Any questions, please ask!
